Internships

We are developing a community nutrition and public health program for students from Keene State College (New Hampshire) and University of Massachusetts at Amherst who are fulfilling their internship requirement for Didactic Programs in Dietetics (DPD). We plan to make this program available to individuals who can apply directly or through other institutions.

Interns will have the opportunity to provide counseling under supervision, as well as to be involved in a pioneering farm-to-school program that is being facilitated through the Nutrition Department of Community Health Programs (CHP). In collaboration with the Berkshire Institute of Traditional Nutrition and Sustainable Agriculture (BITNSA), we are working to create a lecture program that provides the theoretical component of the internship. The lectures to be given by BITNSA faculty include such topics as: Community Action and Organizational Change; Culinary Perspectives on Whole Foods Nutrition; Food Access— Systems, Distribution and Economics; Sustainable Agriculture and Nutrition. This innovative program will offer interns the opportunity to develop a unique set of skills, which will enable them to become effective advocates in the community.

We are excited by the prospect of contributing to the experience and knowledge base of future professionals in community nutrition and public health. We will be glad to provide you with additional information.
